Responding to the “anything goes” mentality of Christopher Shannon’s SS14 show, photographer Matt Lambert captured the 90s super-club scene inspired collection in the aftermath of a hedonistic weekend in Berlin. Working with a selection of street cast boys and stylist Harry Lambert, who was in town for a few days of partying, the shoot offers a new perspective on Shannon’s designs. Here, Lambert talks us through the underground club life that inspired the images…
"Summer in Berlin flows from one fragmented moment to the next. Parties go for days - not nights. On a cyclical loop, kids time travel and teleport through the city and from one moment to the next, from Thursday till Monday, taking short breaks in between. They link up online and come together for fleeting moments and carnal connections only to dive back into the anonymity of their hedonistic caves.
It's quite frowned upon and often forbidden to take photos inside the clubs in Berlin, most weekend party pics that surface are of the pre-party or the come down.
Stylist Harry Lambert was coming to Berlin for a few days of party. How fitting that he brought along some pieces of Christopher Shannon's new 90's-UK-rave-inspired collection to shoot through a Berlin perspective - a moment of minutiae during the calm between storms."
