His various big cat female characters – Catwoman, Cruella de Ville and Pussy Faster vamped down the runway, on the prowl for…who knows what? They chose to do whilst wearing leopard and cheetah spots and big cat hues of brown on eighties nodding broad shouldered coats, jackets, cinched in with a belt and topped up off with a cone-esque quiff, sometimes sprayed with spots. These man eaters' curves were accentuated either with exaggerated angular pockets jutting out at the hips or with padded swirls curling their way around body-conscious dresses. The ultimate hark back to Gaultier’s enfant terrible days played out on French reality TV star Nabilla Benattia whose chest practically couldn’t be contained within Gaultier’s plunging strapless gown with feathers splayed at the hips. We think that was the point. Following the David Bowie Is exhibition at the V&A, we also had an Ashes to Ashes moment with the final bride ensemble, resembling a wedding appropriate version of Bowie’s Pierrot costume featured in the video.
