The two fashion innovators came together through a shared love for Africa and a desire to build sustainable trade with the continent. While Diesel’s pioneering denim heritage and Edun’s reputation for chic draping provide a foundation, the collection has its roots in Africa. Using raw, untreated denim made from cotton grown in Uganda, the Diesel+Edun collection is built around a reinterpretation of the four-pocket jean popular on the streets of South Africa in the 1970s. Those Malian, Kenya and Zulu design influences are subtly echoed throughout embroidery and print details. Connecting the simple yet elegant denim and jersey pieces are four original symbols designed to reflect the heart of the collection. What’s more, the Diesel+Edun collection is worn by a new generation of creative talent redefining the continent today: Studio Africa. How’s that for style with substance? The Diesel+Edun collection is available in Diesel stores worldwide from 1st March 2013 and online at diesel.com/diesel+edun.
