The first stand alone Maison Martin Margiela shop in London on Bruton Place is making a move but only across the road to Bruton Street. In an 18th century building, seven 3D silver letters spelling out WELCOME in the window invite people in. This former furniture store, once covered in gaudy fake materials has now been stripped back to reveal the original details of the building – mirrors, glass, moulded ceilings and a dome.

Designed with a similar premise to the Maison Martin Margiela store in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, furniture and architectural elements have been salvaged making the space a mix of old and new. To magnify the space even more, all surfaces are either silver or white and walls are covered with a glass partition that has been treated with a light filter.

Most of MMM’s different collections are represented at the store and will be given their own area; the Totally White label, the Artisanal Collection for men and women, the 1, 10, 4, 14, MM6 lines as well as the jewellery shoes and eyewear collections.
