Maison Martin Margiela brings irony to the couture schedule with its artisanal collection, taking familiar objects and recontextualizing them into garments of personality and wit. This season crystal doorknobs closed jackets and jewelled masks covered the head entirely. "The headpieces were incredible and I really loved the baseball gloves woven together to make garments – this is what you go to Margiela for, only they can do that and make it elegant and pleasing and special. Making the impossible possible, almost. Taking something that shouldn't be taken and doing it well is a signature of the artisanal line. I also enjoyed the lace trousers which featured throughout."
