Choosing what to wear to your first Met Gala is a problem most of us won’t ever have to worry about, but it’s an exciting dilemma nonetheless. You want to be on theme and make an entrance – people refer to celebrities’ debut looks for years to come. This year, Audrey Nuna gave us a Met Gala debut to remember. The Korean-American singer-rapper (who is one-third of K-Pop Demon Hunters’ fictional idol group Huntr/x) wore a dramatic black-and-white splattered coat and hat, created by designer Robert Wun and styled by Danyul Brown. Her makeup look by Ashley Ysabelle was equally on theme – an artistic ultra-long eyeliner wing on just one side of her face, and black lipstick. Below, she gives Dazed her monthly beauty recap and shares her first Met Gala beauty affirmations. What does beauty mean to you? Audrey Nuna: Beauty is contagiously loving yourself for simply existing. What’s one holy grail item you’ve been using to prep for your first Met Gala? Audrey Nuna: Biodance Collagen Peptide Eye Patches. Who is your beauty icon? Audrey Nuna: Audrey Hepburn. I was named after her. She’s such an example of beauty from within radiating outwards. What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever received? Audrey Nuna: Prioritising the health of your skin and the consistency of your everyday routine is the most important. That’s something my mom really instilled in us from a young age; she always framed beauty as an extension of health rather than something to aspire to look like. I motivate myself to do my skincare nightly by watching YouTube videos and lately, Blue Eye Samurai, during my routine. Can you give us three beauty affirmations? Audrey Nuna: I am thankful to be alive. I am blessed and protected. Beauty starts within. Escape the algorithm!
