Storm runner eyewear, chrome blade nails and tattoo-printed tops – concept store marketplace Ap0cene has always fed on the strange. Curating the kind of pieces that feel like they’ve slipped out of an alternate universe, the brand has become a cult destination for discovering small-brand designers with a taste for the unconventional. In its latest move, the brand has announced its expansion into beauty, pulling five new brands into its orbit.

Ap0cene has always been about community and innovation. “We expanded into beauty for one reason: our customers asked. There’s a fatigue around huge mega-brands that just don’t listen to what their customers have to say. By teaming up with agile and independent names, we’re offering something genuinely different,” says co-founder Ariel Arakas. Over the years, Ap0cene has become a go-to hub for if-you-know-you-know artists and designers – and its latest beauty venture continues to reflect this.

From smudge-proof microgel liners to iridescent balms, the line-up is as offbeat as you’d expect. “At Ap0cene, we don’t do basic,” Arakas adds. Products include London-based studio PatinaPlace’s crimson dragon-claw nails, Berlin-based brand Fallen Angels’ pink glass talons, and AppleDoll’s fairie-wand liners and deeply hued blushes. Elsewhere, hair brand Jiudi’s dyes bring in acid-bright shades like Sorcerer and Outlaw, while nail polish label SSONE offers up a palette of sleek lacquers.

As Ap0cene leads the charge into new territory, it’s not alone in experimenting with different directions in beauty. Other drops this month also include ISAMAYA Beauty’s reimagining of its cult CORE 1 & CORE 2 palettes; Ples’Jour’s new luxury lubricant; Cécred’s The Protection Collection, a bold, new line for protective styles and extensions; Starface’s berry-scented twist on its iconic Star Balm; and Milk Makeup infusing hemp oil into its new Kush Big Hit Mascara.
