On Thursday night (September 26), Dazed and Byredo took over Paris Fashion Week with a party to celebrate the launch of Byredo’s new fragrance, Desert Dawn. Hosted at the iconic La Machine du Moulin Rouge, the night saw fashion’s finest, artists and cultural provocateurs gathered under one roof. Much like the new fragrance, the event encapsulated an essence of the desert as a space for creativity – a place where energy ebbs and flows unpredictably.
With heady notes of cardamom, rose petals, sandalwood and cedarwood, Desert Dawn mirrors nature’s unpredictability, the perfect backdrop for a night that saw the worlds of fashion, music and art collide.
Missed it? Below we broke down everything that happened.
IT TOOK PLACE AT AN ICONIC PARISIAN LOCATION
Located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, the party was hosted at the La Machine du Moulin Rouge. With its iconic red windmill looming overhead, if you closed your eyes in the smoking area you could probably imagine Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya and P!nk performing “Lady Marmalade” in the background. Blending old-school Parisian charm with an edgy undercurrent, inside the space was transformed into a moody, immersive experience with Byredo’s Desert Dawn lingering in the air.
THE DJ LINEUP WAS MAJOR
The vibe was set from the jump with DJs Baddie2Baddie (the duo Carla + Mel) playing classics and current hits. They were followed by Crystallmess who went back to back with Andy 4000, with a set that mixed hard-hitting beats with ethereal transitions, reflecting the party’s desert-meets-dreamlike atmosphere.
THE CELEBS SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT
At one point in the evening, phones and flashlights went up and there were murmurs of ‘who’s that’ as crowds gathered around one area of the venue. Lo and behold, it was none other than Cardi B, sitting close to the DJ booth. Rapper Ice Spice also made an appearance. Other guests included Kai Isaiah Jamal, Ib Kamara, Mowalola, Ceval, Amiaya, Cora Corre, Imruh Asha, Pat Boguslawski, Carlijn Jacobs, Chet Lo, Carlisle Aikens, Emma Winder, Dice Ailes, Ancuta Sarca, Aminé, Aly Meghani, Carlijn Jacobs, Raya Martigny, Eva Apio and Yves Tumor.
Other names from the fashion and creative world included the likes of Queen Kevhoney Scarlett, Faith Harper, Gabriel Moses, OGEE, Louis Ghewy, Maxime Ballesteros, Sinead O’Dwyer, Emma Davidson, Aly Meghani, Kacion Mayers, Adrian González-Cohen, Betsy Johnson, Brenda Weischer, Rei Delos-Reyes, Emmanuel O’Brien, Joe Brooks, Beto Neri, Louie Banks, Siobhan Bell, Kyle Dominic, Robin Douglas Westling, Samia Giobellina, Maddie Ostlie, Ratty Nye Davies, Simone Murphy, Kito Muñoz, Simon Donnellon, Oscar Ouyang, Jocelyn Snu, Lorette Colé Duprat, Rob Storey and Cora Delaney.
BURGER FOR THE ROAD?
Arguably the worst part of having a night out is saying bye to everyone you know only to awkwardly stand outside for half an hour waiting for an Uber to accept your journey. But for guests of this party this was not an issue: a fleet of free taxis were waiting outside to take everyone home. Before leaving, guests could enjoy burgers and hotdogs, courtesy of Parisian street food vendor DAD. So guests left having danced, been fed and chauffeured home, what more could you want?
