When it comes to beauty tutorials, the internet is fairly teeming with content of every kind. No matter how you like them – pious, psychedelic, with a side of crime – there’s something out there for everyone. However, online tutorials can often lack a certain personal, tactile element that you get from an IRL experience. There's nothing quite like a live workshop, where you can interact with the experts, ask your questions, and see the process up-close and in person.
That’s why we are thrilled to announce that two of the most exciting names in beauty right now are hosting live tutorials as part of Dazed Live, a two-day event celebrating Dazed’s 30th anniversary. Taking place at Dazed HQ across 9-10 October, the celebration will be showcasing music, art, fashion, activism, and beauty with everything from live performances, screenings, exhibitions, and workshops.
The beauty portion of the weekend sees make-up artist Lynski and hair stylist John Allan share their hottest tips and tricks in two live tutorials. First up is Lynski, who will be showcasing her avant-garde style in a workshop for her signature airbrushing technique. Originally from Latvia, now based in London, Lynski’s ethereal yet futuristic make-up masterpieces begin as a whirlwind of ideas in her self-proclaimed restless mind, which she then translates onto faces with lustrous pigments and vibrant, colourful accents.
And you won’t want to miss boundary-pushing hair stylist and maverick John Allan who will be hosting a wild sculptural wig tutorial. Known for rejecting the mundane and embracing the groovy stylings of the 70s, Allan has a penchant for adventurous cuts – think mullets and mohawks. Starting out as an apprentice in Toni and Guy Milton Keynes, he has grown into one of London's most sought-after session stylists with clients including Beabadoobee and Mowalola.
