TikTok never fails to surprise us. When it’s not hosting Grimestheories about communism, or orchestrating 2,500-people ‘kickbacks’, it’s apparently home to nuns and their skincare routines.

Well, one specific nun at least. After users were shocked by the youthfulness of 55-year-old Claudette Powell’s (AKA @nunsenseforthepeople) skin, they demanded she drop her beauty tips. “I thought people would be asking questions about transubstantiation and Gregorian chant,” Powell wrote on TikTok, “but the ladies want the nunly skincare tips.”

Speaking to camera, Powell admits that she doesn’t really have a skincare routine, but adds: “Maybe I know what you’re talking about… I think I probably have a few less wrinkles than some people my age because I don’t go out in the sun.” Powell explains that she hasn’t been able to soak up the sunshine since the 90s because it gives her migraines. “If I go out in the sun, I have to have a sunshade or an umbrella,” she continues, “and of course that adds to the whole eccentric Mary Poppins schoolmarm vibe that I constantly project.”

Sister Powell also cites her previous experience in photography as helping her to appear younger than she is on camera. “Whenever I shoot these videos, I shoot them in really good lighting,” she says, “and in low lighting, because low lighting is a girl’s best friend.”

When it comes to beauty products – which self-declared “cheap” Powell deems “a rip off” – Powell isn’t interested. Instead, she cares for her allergy-prone skin by washing her face once a day and using “oatmeal body wash/shampoo that you get in the baby department at the grocery store for six bucks”.

One key piece of advice missed by Powell was shared by users in the comments. That is: live without men. So, there you have it, folks! How to get baby smooth skin… like a nun.

This isn’t the first time Powell has blessed us with her beauty routine. She previously shared her “nunly hair tutorial”, teaching users how to make a coronet braid – a “gay-approved style” thanks to her friend Stephen offering his “high praise” that “girl, nobody works a coronet braid like you do”. Big vibe.
