This company has given its employees 30 minutes a day to masturbate

Indie adult filmmaker Erika Lust is encouraging her staff to participate in workplace wanks to keep their creative juices flowing

Would you wank in your workplace? If you were one of Erika Lust’s employees you would be actively encouraged to. The indie adult filmmaker has launched a new initiative for Masturbation Month that sees her giving her 36 members of staff a 30 minute break every day in which to masturbate during work hours. The campaign, which started at the beginning of this month and will last all year, aims to help de-stigmatise masturbation in everyday life. Lust is also calling on other business owners to join her in offering regulated self-pleasure breaks for their employees.

Masturbating in the office isn’t a new concept. In 2016, a Time Out New York survey found that 39 per cent of people were masturbating at work. And who could forget Matthew McConaughey’s character in Wolf of Wall Street explaining how he jerks off twice a day – once in the morning, once after lunch – to keep up his performance at work. But, when it comes to workplace wanks, there is a very thin line between appropriate and unacceptable. Last year, New Yorker writer and CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin was fired for masturbating on camera during an election simulation Zoom meeting. Context, time and place, and the big one – consent – are key.

Unlike Toobin, Lust’s staff won’t be jerking off in front of colleagues while starring as the Supreme Court of the United States opposite Masha Gessen’s Donald Trump. I imagine. Instead, the office has been set up with a private “masturbation station” for which employees can schedule times. Just think of it as booking a meeting room but with more orgasms.

“With the pandemic and the huge shift in how we live our lives, I began to notice that my employees had become somewhat agitated and were performing with less energy than before,” explains Lust on the thinking behind the initiative. “So, knowing that there’s only one thing that will make everyone feel good, I’ve set up a private masturbation station for them to enjoy. I value my employees and I know that when they feel good, we do good work.”

To promote the campaign, Lust and her team will be sharing updates on how the initiative is going on social media throughout May. They will also be releasing an ASMR recording of the team’s sounds of self pleasure during some of the sessions for International Masturbation Day on the 28th.

“A masturbation break at work can result in more focus from your employees, less aggression, more productivity, and better team work,” says Cat, head of comms and content. “Picture this; a team of happy employees with their creative juices flowing and being productive because they’ve had some time scheduled to make themselves feel good!”

For anyone interested in getting involved, Lust will be hosting an online explicit Live Masturbation Session in partnership with Allbodies on May 25 (sign up here to join). In the meantime check out her guide to the best sex toys and how to use them here. Use them at home by yourself, with a partner or a few, or even at work. Just remember to not do it in front of unsuspecting colleagues or to whip your dick out in the middle of a meeting and you’ll be fine.
