The first few iterations of lockdown saw people take the kitchen scissors to their hair for throwback mullets and shags, while others got on the box dye for a myriad of colours. While the easing of lockdown in the UK has some people speed dialling their hairdressers, others, like BTS star Jungkook, continue to get creative.

Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, has revealed a brand new vibrant blue hairstyle, a DIY job. The artist shared the new look with fans on Twitter.

Unveiling the new hairdo through a casual mirror selfie, K-pop stans have already flocked online to react with one commentator simply tweeting “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” (naturally). 

This is a switch up to his more recent blond do, which he sported only yesterday (February 24) during an MTV Unplugged session. Alongside RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, and V, the group performed parred-back versions of “Dynamite”, “Telepathy”, “Blue & Grey”, “Life Goes On”, as well as a cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You”.

And while the look may seem like a quick turn around, this is not the first time the BTS boys have experimented with colourful hairdos, with the group rocking pastel-hued hair to the 2019 Grammys. 

Fans online have been pondering whether this new look from Jungkook is a sign of new music. The debut pic came with a hashtag that could reflect a new mixtape – #JJK. One user wrote on Twitter: “jungkook with blue hair?! that’s really a ‘im about to drop a mixtape’ look. we best be ready.”

This isn’t the first time the 23-year-old has enraptured fans with new hairstyles – his man bun debut on a September edition of The Tonight Show went viral, and he’s gone dark red and purple before. Will this look last until their rumoured Grammys 2021 performance? Stay tuned.
