Break out the black liquid liner because Ariana Grande’s bringing back the 60s. The singer, who released her new album Positions last month, has inspired a wave of TikTokers to recreate her iconic cover image, which sees Grande avec dramatic winged liner, a cut crease, and a voluminous blowout.
The hashtag #positionsarianagrande currently has 24.5 million views, while #arianagrandeinspired has 80.7 thousand views. The Grande-inspired tutorials take the artist’s cat eye and cut crease as a starting point. While some stick to Grande’s exact neutral-hued look, others have experimented with changing up colours and playing with angles. Users like @jasadetunji and @chloeandcosmetics went a step further to add nude lip liner, glitter eyeshadow, and strip lashes.
Positions is the singer’s first since the release of thank u, next in 2019. Since then, Grande has collaborated with Lady Gaga on “Rain on Me”, co-written BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s track, “Ice Cream”, created the soundtrack for the new Charlie’s Angels film, and performed at the VMAs. Outside of music, she’s just joined the cast for Adam McKay’s new Netflix comedy, Don’t Look Up, which is also set to star Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, and more.
