A Target-brand candle has completely sold out after Harry Styles fans decided it smelled exactly like him.

Intrigued? Let us explain. The story begins back in 2017, before Styles started to smell like Joan Didion’s house, when the singer and heartthrob’s signature scent was Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille.

How do we know this, you ask. Well, while on tour, Styles’s hair and make-up artist Lou Teasdale shared a picture of his dressing table which included a Diptyque candle, several Ouai products, a Bleach London (natch) texture spritz, Sunday Riley’s UFO oil (from which we can deduce Harry’s skin is on the oiler side), and the Tom Ford fragrance.

Created as an homage to London with notes of tonka beans, cacao, and vanilla, Tobacco Vanille is described as being “reminiscent of an English gentleman's club” and is apparently “all man.” It also retails for a cool £240 for 100ml for the eau de parfum or, the slightly more affordable, body spray at £52 for 150 ml.

It is this body spray that Harry stans on TikTok have started ordering, for no apparent reason, in order to feel closer to the star. Based on the reactions, which mostly involve pure speechlessness, it smells pretty good. However, not everybody can afford Tom Ford prices and so a number of dupes and knock-offs started popping up in the wake of this new trend, including the Target “Cashmere Vanilla” candle. At just $7, it is a much more affordable option and after word got out on the TikTok streets thanks to user @therobotsdaughter, the candle quickly sold out.

“I got the coveted Harry Styles candle. The smell = immaculate,” wrote @antibiotic_styles, while @daniellaalejandra__ had a small breakdown over her candle.“When you waste your money on this candle then a week later its only burning in the middle so your mum thinks she can fix it but now she just made it worse and now you are having a mental breakdown because the candle is sold out. So no Harry, it won’t be alright.”

While you wait for the next restock, enjoy these strangers enjoying their Harry Styles scents.
