These angelic beauty looks are the trend lighting the way through darkness

Pure heaven

The brainchild of best friends Jules and Gebs, @ravvebeauty is the Instagram account dedicated to showcasing and celebrating all that is disturbing, disarming, and alluring when it comes to underground beauty. Lending us their well-honed eye, here they pick their top beauty Instagrams of the month.

The tedium of quarantine life isn’t all bad. For instance, I finally got to find 8 consecutive hours in order to rewatch Angel in America, Tony Kushner’s supernatural examination of the AIDS epidemic in the 80s.

In the play, the Angel – who looks more like an 80s club queen than a religious icon, TBH – appears to a young man who has secluded himself in loneliness and shame upon receiving the confirmation of his infection. The Angel strikes him with the energy to speak again, to fight again, and to continue to live.

Now I don’t know if my subconscious has been relentlessly at work during the isolation or if Instagram has been digging my cookies like mad – but man, ever since that day I’ve seen nothing but angels popping on my IG feed. A bunch of cool angels though, I’ll give you that:, sexy angels, dark angels, fallen angels, and queer angels. These dark times are calling for saviours, for hope, for some kind of heavenly body intervention.

If most of us can’t be heroes – like all the health workers protecting us in the world, at least we can learn to grow and display the kind of angelic kindness that knows no border, gender, number, or colour. Here are our fave guardian angels of Instagram; selected by @ravvebeauty.
