There’s a new trend rumbling on the beauty scene and it’s centred around vaginas and honestly, we are here for it. Too long has the vagina been put in the corner, shunned and shamed while the penis has been worshipped and celebrated. But readers, that is all changing – the vagina’s time has finally come. Fresh off of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop vagina-scented candle, Erykah Badu has dropped details about an upcoming scent that is inspired by her own vagina and crafted by burning her underwear. Speaking to 10 magazine, Badu shared plans for her new online store Badu World Market launching at the end of this month. The store will stock everything from clothing and accessories to traditional music merch and most importantly an item that pays tribute “to what Badu calls her ‘superpower’”. Yes, it’s her vagina and yes, it’s an incense. “There’s an urban legend that my pussy changes men,” she says in the interview. “The men that I fall in love with, and fall in love with me, change jobs and lives.” To create the scent, Badu took a creative approach. “I took lots of pairs of my panties, cut them up into little pieces and burned them. Even the ash is part of it,” she says. According to 10, the product will be named Badu’s Pussy and will smell as advertised. If you are concerned about the number of pants Badu literally burned through don’t worry, we also find out that the singer no longer wears any. “The people deserve it!” was her final word on the matter.
