Girls on TikTok are gluing their lips to make them bigger

If you thought the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge was bad...

Ever since social media has become a ubiquitous presence in all our lives, teens around the world seem to have developed a kind of Jackass mentality – willing to do a lot of stupid shit for views. When they all collectively ate tide pods, for example. Or the Bird Box challenge which Netflix itself had to issue a warning about. “Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes,” Netflix tweeted from its official account.

Well, Netflix may not be getting its wish this year because there is a new, dangerous trend going around TikTok and it involves upper lips and glue.

It all started with user @chloehammock4 when she posted a video of herself putting glue just above her cupid’s bow and then sticking her upper lip up in order for it to appear fuller. She then applies some Kylie Cosmetics lipstick. Since the video was posted two days ago, it has been viewed 4.5 million times, and racked up almost 400k likes and over three thousand comments, while a Twitter repost of the video has been liked 115k times. Many other TikTok users have taken up Chloe’s challenge, posting their own versions to the app.

This is not the first time people on the internet have DIY’d their own lip fillers. In 2015, the viral Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge saw teens sucking small jars onto their lips to create a vacuum effect the result of which were, at best, swollen lips, and, at worst, bruises, soreness and torn skin.

Don’t do this at home kids.
