Happily, she’s now sharing them with the world. Yesterday, the supermodel, who is set to receive the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Icon Award in December, uploaded her very first beauty tutorial since becoming a YouTube vlogger last year. In a quick, slightly-more-than five-minute make-up routine, Naomi shares her best application techniques and some of her go-to products. (The fact that they all happen to be NARS might be a coincidence or might have something to do with Naomi being the face of the brand’s Spring 2019 campaign. Who’s to say?). To start with, Naomi skips foundation and instead opts for a concealer, the Soft Matte Concealer from Nars in the shade Amande, which she applies with a wedge-shaped sponge, focusing on her t-zone, particularly under the nose, and under her eyes. She then goes in with a pressed powder to set the concealer, gently tapping it on using a Real Techniques brush. “I don’t like my base to ever look like a mask,” Naomi explains, “I don’t really wear base on my forehead because I want to look like I don’t have anything on.” Then there’s a light contour from a Nars contour and blush duo which she also uses as eyeshadow and then there is blush. Naomi focuses the blush on the high point of her cheekbones rather than lower on the apples of her cheeks - she thinks the latter makes her look “clowny” and takes away from her bone structure. After highlighter, which she says she prefers in a powder form due to ease and uses “on every bone,” it is on to eyebrows. Aside from brushing them with a spoolie, Naomi leaves them natural with a quick shoutout to Anastasia Soare of Anastasia Beverly Hills “the best eyebrow woman in the world and a great friend of mine.” Naomi also skips the mascara, likely due to what looks to be some fabulous lash extensions. Finishing up, Naomi combines two lip glosses in the shades Outrage and Sexual Content and then adds a bit of purple eyeshadow – her favourite colour. We also learn Naomi’s favourite Nars lipstick is Honolulu Honey. “That’s how I put myself together,” she concludes. “After years of sitting in a chair for so many hours, when I do it, it has to be a minute thing.” Escape the algorithm!
