Gucci Westman has finally brought her make-up brand to the UK. The celebrity make-up artist, who has worked with the likes of Annie Leibovitz and Peter Lindberg on countless Vogue covers and Willy Vanderperre on a cover for AnOther Magazine, launched her brand Westman Atelier last spring but until now it had only been available in the US. As of this week, that’s all changing, with an exciting launch on Net-a-Porter. With its tagline “Conscious Crafted Beauty,” Westman Atelier is formulated with clean ingredients and comes in chic, stick forms, the inspiration for which came from Westman’s own experience as a make-up artist in Paris where they commonly use stick formulas, working the make-up with their fingers. “I wanted it to be easy and effortless,” Westman told Dazed Beauty. For Westman, it was all about focusing on clean, conscious ingredients. Working with the chemists she met at Lancôme, Westman says their blacklist for products was about “seven pages long.” She explains: “I wanted to work with labs that are known for innovation and technology. My expectations due to my experiences as a make-up artist are extremely high. My mission now is to make clean beauty the opposite of boring.” A self-professed skincare addict, Westman has also made sure to include active ingredients in her cosmetics. “The skincare benefits are the point of difference. I have rosacea and I wanted something selfishly that would soothe and calm my skin. I wanted it to feel intimate and something you could rely on. It's not make up to cover things up,” she says. Previous to launching her own line, Westman was global artistic director at Revlon, a position she held from 2008 to 2015, where she worked across product development and trend collections. Prior to that she was international artistic director of Lancôme. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
