According to reports on The Wrap, the Cruel Intentions revival series – which was first confirmed over a year ago – has now been axed by NBC. The TV show was supposed to pick up around 16 years after the original film. Initially set in Ohio, it was set to follow the adventures of Sebastian and Annette’s teenage son Bash (she was apparently pregnant with his baby when he died). However, after Bash tries to find out more about his father’s sordid past, he ends up running into his psychopathic aunt Kathryn – a role reprised once again by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Presumably, that’s when things start to go to shit. Unfortunately, despite being described by TV Link as “equal parts sun-kissed and bi-curious”, the project has failed to make the leap from pilot to series. NBC passed on a full series commission, claiming that the decision was reached after too many shows were scheduled on its midseason roster. Sony TV Pictures is reportedly still hoping to find a home for the show, with insiders revealing that “multiple networks” are enquiring about it. “Because of the love for the pilot, (Sony are) optimistic about their chances,” revealed the series’ director, Roger Kumble. “I’m holding out hope and a lot of us are. I’m very cautiously optimistic – but I’m not buying a new car.” Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MOREWhy did Satan start to possess girls on screen in the 70s?Learn the art of photo storytelling and zine making at Dazed+Labs8 essential skate videos from the 90s and beyond with Glue SkateboardsThe unashamedly queer, feminist, and intersectional play you need to seeParis artists are pissed off with this ‘gift’ from Jeff KoonsA Seat at the TableVinca Petersen: Future FantasySnarkitecture’s guide on how to collide art and architectureBanksy has unveiled a new anti-weapon artworkVincent Gallo: mad, bad, and dangerous to knowGet lost in these frank stories of love and lossPreview a new graphic novel about Frida Kahlo
