The first official footage of the long-awaited T2 has finally dropped
Despite the lengthy two-decade wait, the buzz around Danny Boyle’s upcoming Trainspotting sequel – otherwise known as T2 – is louder than ever. According to production teasers, casting calls and fan footage, the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 cult classic is now officially underway; with the full original cast currently filming their scenes across Edinburgh. This includes the four main characters, Renton (Ewan McGregor), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Begbie (Robert Carlyle) and Spud (Ewen Bremner).
At the moment, the final film is due for release in the UK on 27 January 2017 and in the US a week later. However, thanks to a new teaser obtained by The Guardian, fans can finally get their first look at the cast, over 21 years later. Echoing a scene from the original movie, the 40-second clip shows all four actors standing on a train platform, as Iggy Pop’s “Lust For Life” plays in the background. Watch it in full above.
