It's cold, it's dark (any excuse, really) but March should bring new hope – especially for us women. Kicking the month off was International Women’s Day which we celebrated by asking our favourite illustrators to share their (brilliantly drawn) take on 'what it means to be a woman today'. Elsewhere, we asked if you can wear the pants without actually wearing any, and spoke to Dazed faves like Petra Collins, Art Hoe Collective and Glacier Girl about the women who inspire them. But sometimes you need a little bit more than a day or a handful of incredibly curated articles ;). Sometimes you need something at the tip of your fingers to cheer you up when that dark cloud descends, or, at least, reassure you that we are all going through the same f’d up thoughts. Power in numbers, right? Below are five of the Instagram feeds that remind me that my heartache/failure/happiness/dreams are universal. HANNAH HILL (@HANECDOTE) Hannah Hill aka Hanecdote hand-embroiders phrases like “Too Cute To Care”, “:) I Am Trying :(“ and “Don’t Give Up” on incredible little patches (also iced onto cupcakes). Once you’ve got your feel-good quota, her feed is also a space to share art by other women, ‘stoned thoughts’ and selfies. ELIZABETH ILSLEY (@ELIZABETHILSLEY) “I Shave My Legs For You”. This is every girl, at some point in her life, reflecting in her head about some ungrateful fuck boi – artist/designer Elizabeth Ilsley actually says it out loud by hand painting it on leather jackets. Other things like “A Girl Is A Gun” and “Not Today Satan” also make much-appreciated appearances. MEGAN TATEM (@TATEMEGAN) Feeling a little sore around your heart? Megan Tatem has a witty Instagram for you. Whether that’s regramming Scott Campbell’s “Wish You Were Here” tombstone or her own self-deprecating illustrations (she’s Polyester zine’s resident heartbreak meme-maker), she’s got an antidote for all your #feels. TOPGIRL.STUDIO (@TOPGIRL.STUDIO) I have been following this CSM graduate for a really long time now. Constantly impressed by her love for pale pink paper but more so for her ability to strike a balance between my own deep, dark thoughts (“you okay? no.” or “your posts are tap water babe”) with Drake references. AUDREY WOLLEN (@AUDREYWOLLEN) I first came across Audrey Wollen when we ran a feature on her Sad Girl Theory. Since, her feed has been a flurry of memes, insightful snippets from her interviews, and, of course, sad girl selfies with art. Escape the algorithm!
