Fans of the 1988 cult film are obsessive to say the least – Ryder explained in an interview with Seth Meyers that she has often been stopped at airports and asked to say "Beetlejuice" three times in a bid to summon the "ghost with the most", played by Michael Keaton. She also confirmed in the interview that Beetlejuice the sequel was taking place and that she’d be in it. "If he (Burton) can say it, then I can say it. I don’t know much more than anybody." 43-year old Ryder also discussed the continuing influence of the film that turned her from teenage unknown to Hollywood hot property. "Little kids (approach me about the film). I'm so touched by that. How do they know? There’s so much CGI and Middle-Earth. It must mean there’s something very pure about it." Not much is known about the sequel or its plot – in October Michael Keaton revealed that they were still waiting on a script. But the film is definitely happening, with all of its original cast members and director on board. Watch Ryder choke being asked to say that word three times and eulogising about the enduring magic of the quintessential goth flick. Read our round up of Ryder’s key style moments here.
