Thanks to Untold Festival’s Pay With Blood campaign. The vampiric vibes of the blood drive are no doubt inspired by the fact that Bram Stoker’s Dracula was set in Transylvania, a central part of Romania. Untold festival is offering a 30 per cent ticket discount to anyone who donates blood in Romania until July 24, and is giving away free one day tickets to anyone who gives blood at a mobile unit in Bucharest. Romania has a rich history of vampiric folklore but it ranks as the second worst country in Europe for active blood donations, with only 1.7 per cent of the population getting involved and mainly only after people known to them need a transfusion. Outline’s PR manager, Stefana Girugiu, was happy that they were able to incorporate the country’s vampire vibe into the festival while assisting those in need. She told the Guardian: “We were talking about how to incorporate Dracula into our festival and after seeing the numbers and how behind Romania was in blood donations we had this idea. Considering many youngsters in Romania don’t donate blood and our festival is aimed at youth they saw the opportunity.” Untold Festival, set in a forest in deepest Transylvania, will run from 30 August to July 2.
