Last summer a snapshot of the young talent redefining Africa’s creative scenes gathered in Senegal in west Africa. The occasion? A collaboration between Diesel and Edun that’s not only sparked a co-branded denim collection made using sustainably grown cotton from Uganda but also launched a platform to celebrate creativity from across the continent. More than a fashion campaign, Diesel+Edun presents Studio Africa as a virtual loudspeaker for a new generation of creative talent.
Uniting artists in music, film, fashion, literature and photography, the Studio Africa cast include South Africa’s Yannick Ilunga who records as rising pop sensation Petite Noir, thrilling new menswear designer Laurence Chauvin-Buthaud, revolutionary Moroccan writer Abdellah Taïa and international model Flaviana Matata who also runs a foundation to educate orphaned girls in her home country of Tanzania. Find out what drives and inspires Yannick, Laurence, Abdellah, Flaviana and the rest of the cast on Studio Africa’s Tumblr.
The Diesel+Edun collection is available in Diesel stores worldwide from 1st March 2013 and online at diesel.com/diesel+edun.
