Andy Warhol photos are being auctioned off to provide relief for artists

Proceeds from the collection of 60 original photographs will go towards aid for those affected by coronavirus

Christie’s and the Andy Warhol Foundation are auctioning a collection of 60 original photographs by Andy Warhol, in a sale titled: “Andy Warhol: Better Days”. Proceeds from the sale will support the foundation’s effort to provide emergency relief for artists across the US during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the photographs are depictions of nature, including flowers and the sea, and self-portraits, at least one of which is expected to fetch up to $50,000 (or over £40,000).

Archie and Amos, the artist’s miniature Dachshunds, also feature in several of the artworks.

According to an Instagram post from the Andy Warhol Foundation, the images were “chosen for their ability to transport the viewer to better days, conveying the splendor of being outdoors and the simple pleasures associated with human interaction”. So, exactly what we need right now.

The online auction will be open to bids from April 28 – May 6.
