Creating an account today, under the handle @annieleibovitz, the American artist has already amassed 37k followers and posted three pictures. The first, a black and white shot of her mother taken in New York in 1997, sits alongside her image of the Nobel prize-winning Malala Yousafzai taken in Birmingham in 2016, and finally, a picture shot for Vanity Fair featuring Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. As Instagram becomes a more and more essential space for photographers to share their work, Leibovitz appears to be putting together an archival account of her work.
