Oklahoma City's electro duo Trash Yourself is John Bourke, beat maker and host of Wednesday night 'Dance, Robots, Dance' party, and Heidi Cannon, a sultry, burlesque-esque vocalist. As the name implies, Trash Yourself utterly rips sounds to shreds, making for grimy, filthy, gorgeous dance music. Upcoming collaborations with Toxic Avenger and Treasure Fingers, as well as their viral remix of Blur's 'Song 2,' will be well worth the listen. For now, check out 'Touch'… Answers by Heidi Cannon:

What's...

...so special about you, then?

We don't take ourselves too seriously, we make fun songs that turn you on. I think I bring a sexy vixen sound to the songs. Expressing some attitude to the songs to punch them up a notch.

...your worst vice?

I'm a loud mouth, there are too many opinions and thoughts bouncing around this head of mine... I think too much partying is a release from that.

...the best piece of advice you've heard?

If you listen to the flaming lips "do you realize". They state things like "do you realize that everyone you know someday will die, and instead of saying all of your goodbyes... let them know you realize that life goes fast, it's hard to make the good things last... realize the sun doesn't go down... it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round." I think this song reminds me to do whatever the hell I want to do in my life, whatever might make me smile. Life should be a party, not a fucking stressed out experience. Life is about connection with other beautiful human beings and your contribution to yourself and others. The songs serves as a lesson in appreciating our short, short lives.

...the skankiest gig you've played?

A sweaty Oklahoma house party... think hormones, booze and makeup smudged all over your face from humidity... youth at it's best.

...good about your music?

Should be in your party must have collection.

...your worst fashion secret?

Oh I get almost all of my clothes at thrift stores, half the fun is the hunt, then comes my vision and then the last part is actually pulling off the vision. Ugly is the best pretty when worn by a confident person.

...your family think of you?

My family is my mom and my cat. I know that my cat squeaky thinks of me as his angelica from the cartoon rugrats, because I'm always picking him up and playing with him at all times. I am like an annoying sister, but he needs my attention as much as I need his!
And my mom thinks I'm a very special person, because she knows I have something to share and need to share it.

...next year going to bring?

A few more finished songs and touring!

...your favourite website?

The trash yourself myspace is fun to go to... people say funny things.

...at the top of your shit list?

Fergie

...are you doing tomorrow?

Living in New York. I'm going to a burlesque art show slash open bar in Brooklyn and then Saturday to Larry Tee's club opening in Brooklyn.
