London based photographer Mel Bles has been taking photos for over 15 years. She is a regular contributor to Dazed & Confused, and also shoots for V magazine, VMan and Another Magazine. Here she tells Dazed Digital about her photographic inspirations, love of football and plans for the future.

Dazed Digital: How old are you?
Mel Bles: 29
DD: How long have you been taking photos?
MB: About 15 years.
DD: How would you describe your photographic style?
MB: Its loose and fun and quite intimate, but always seems to be graphic and simple.
DD: What is inspiring you at the moment?
MB: It’s always the same things: the smell of nature, the stink of the city, new friendships and my husband.
DD: Were you interested in photography when you were growing up? When did you start to take photos?
MB: I was always interested in photos and when my granddad gave me his Nikon when he lost his sight I was able to start investigating that interest seriously. But I was very serious about painting for a long time, and I think that love is something that still informs my work today.
DD: What is your dream job?
MB: A sportswear campaign, featuring Thierry Henry, John Terry, Paolo Maldini and Jose Mourinho. I love sport, especially football.
DD: Who are your favorite photographers and why?
MB: Guy Bourdin because he had balls and a sense of humor, and William Eggleston because he's an innovator, a genius and a madman.
DD: Who would you most like the opportunity to photograph and why?
MB: There's something about Dennis Hopper - the past insanity in his eyes - that I've always found quite appealing... He's a man that’s lived life hard.
DD: What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
MB: I'm always inspired by the road and adventure. Taking photos takes you on adventures; I hope I'll have had many more by then.
