Music / IncomingLoAFing AroundLo Recordings sister label LoAF stands on its own giving Dazed Digital an exclusive mixtapeShareLink copied ✔️December 8, 2009MusicIncomingTextKirsti Weir This December, LoAF are set to celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas in style this year throwing one of their infamous parties at their Brick Lane office combining music, film and food and a brand new shop, Lo and Behold. They are the younger sibling of disco label Lo Recordings, current home of Black Devil Disco Club and Fischerspooner founded to nurture talent that is a bit different but always stunningly enchanting with a quirky twist. Highlights of the roster include the French cuties Gable, Seeland and Dark Captain Light Captain for their beautifully non-confrontational folk. They’ve been working hard consistently producing quality products of design via their music’s packaging and content so it seems now to have their own shop and showcase these is the next step. Through many events they have arguably been building a real physical community of creativity in trendy Brick Lane, often serving up bagels, soup and beers with live bands and DJs. The craziest most probably Pete Fowler’s psychedelic fancy dress party where there was definitely a horse’s head or two for his album Monsterism for sister label Lo or when Gable performed with a hoover and a sander. A refreshing happening in a world of online social media where most people’s socialising is done online. The shop opening is also timed with the release of their new compilation “Domestic Pop” with contributions from Cursor Minor and the aforementioned Gable. They’ve prepared this mix for us to showcase their weird and wonderful sound.Lo and Behold is open now, 11am – 7pm most days of the week at 2b Swanfield Street, London E2. The Domestic Pop Launch & Christmas/Hanukkah Party is Saturday 12th December 6pm – 2am with live sets from Omo and Supertalented and film screenings from filmmaker Matilda Tristram.Domestic PopcastGet the FlashPlayer to see this player.Track list:Calin - Money PoneyVan_Zit - You don't rockLes Club Des Chats - Spy Against BredNico Teen - Bring It HomeGablÈ - PurÈe Hip-HopFred Dutch (Previously Known As Batfinks) - A Ke Kee ShopBill Nelson - Hope For A HeartbeatSupertalented - Fax MeThe Chap - Well Done YouOmo - AdvantageVincent Oliver - Cluods In The HaedGregaldur - Domestic Popol Escape the algorithm!
