While Pip is a success in his own right, it's only since joining forces with Dan le Sac that he has seen his audience double, thanks mainly to the online buzz track, "Thou Shalt Always Kill".Such attention has left the talented wordsmith a little "overwhelmed", although he has kindly offered to shed a little light on the inner workings of their inspired partnership.Even though they knew of each other for years, the boys didn’t musically hook up until after Scroob released his solo album No Commercial Breaks, when Dan le Sac booked him for a night he was hosting in Reading. Dan soon turned his magical hand at remixing some of Scroob's work and the next thing you know they’re the most requested unsigned act on XFM.Their collaborative writing process begins with Dan le Sac making a rough beat and bouncing it across on an email to his pal. Scroob then creates his textual masterpiece before mailing it back for Dan to rework. "It's been great so far because each track has got us really excited, so it’s been a quick turnover," Pip says. In response to the continuing praise for their nonconforming song structures they admit, "That this hasn’t been a conscious effort."Fans will be pleased to know that the duo's plans for the future are simply more gigs and more songs. "My favourite part of all this is playing live," Scroob confesses. "So we want to play as often as is realistically possible before spending time working on the album."I personally think the secret to this flurry of success is Pip's beard. Maybe there are similar aspirations hiding in mine; I'll have to take a look sometime. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
