Bell and Lynch’s creative partnership goes back a long way: she featured on the Inland Empire soundtrack in 2007, Lynch co-wrote and produced her debut album in 2011, and she recently performed at a benefit concert for Lynch. On top of all this, she’s also one of the many musicians slated to appear in next year’s third season of Twin Peaks. “Beat the Beat” appears on Bell’s Somewhere in the Nowhere EP, due out on October 7. The EP is once again co-written and produced by Lynch. “The first time I saw her perform, I thought she was like an alien. The most beautiful alien ever,” Lynch said in a press release, adding that Bell “is not only a killer performer, she also has a great intuitive ability to catch a mood and find a melody that’s really spectacular.” The EP precedes a new album from Chrysta Bell, due next year, which will also feature collaborations with Adrian Utley of Portishead and Stephen O’Malley of drone titans Sunn O))).
