The “Born This Way” singer, who won a Golden Globe award for her role in American Horror Story this year, will reportedly be playing the famed Liverpudlian in a new Mario Van Peebles–directed feature. The bizarre casting choice was announced at a Cannes Film Festival press conference this morning; with Warwick herself confirming the project. The soul icon also revealed to the crowd that Black – who died last August – “stole” her music, and was her “nemesis”. The film, titled My Life As I See It, will include ex-Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett, who has been cast in the principal role of Warwick. Danny Glover will reportedly be playing the singer’s father. “This is my 57th year in this business, and I have been asked ‘When are you gonna let us know about this? Tell us about that?’” Warwick announced at the conference. “So it’s finally at the point where instead of what you think you know about Dionne Warwick, now you will know.” Escape the algorithm!
