Music / NewsWatch the video for David Bowie’s final Blackstar single‘I Can't Give Everything Away’ gets a simple but stirring animated videoShareLink copied ✔️April 6, 2016MusicNewsTextSelim Bulut “I Can’t Give Everything Away”, the final song on David Bowie’s Blackstar, has been given a new video. The animated lyric video was constructed by Jonathan Barnbrook, who has been working with David Bowie since his album Heathen in 2002, collaborating with the musician on both Reality in 2003 and The Next Day in 2013 as well as Blackstar's album cover. According to the NME, Barnbrook considers the video as a celebration of Bowie’s life and work. “This is really a very simple little video that I wanted to be ultimately positive,” he said, “We start off in black and white world of Blackstar, but in the final chorus we move to brilliant colour, I saw it as a celebration of David, to say that despite the adversity we face, the difficult things that happen such as David’s passing, that human beings are naturally positive, they look forward and can take the good from the past and use it as something to help with the present. We are a naturally optimistic species and we celebrate the good that we are given.” Following Bowie’s death earlier this year, tracks from his final album Blackstar were also used as the basis for an Instagram mini-series starring Tavi Gevinson.
