Daedelus, Kozyndan and Jogger are BFF

New label Friends of Friends calls on their LA BFFs for a music, art and fashion love-in.
Proving it’s all fine in 09, brand spanking new Los Angeles music label Friends of Friends launch their mission with an altruistic musical statement to be admired. Ask one of your best mates to do an EP and let them choose another artist for the B-side and also a visual artist to complete the trinity, do up the artwork and round off the package with an exclusive tee design, videos and extra bombastic mixes. LA DJ Lazy Brow aka Leeor Brown (part of the ever-inspiring Dublab community) is the man responsible for FoF and the inaugural release sees dandy Victorian alchemist Daedelus kick start the label with a new set of work. Alfred Darlington/Daedelus picked his buddies Jogger (Amir Yaghmai and Jonathan Larroquette) for the flip – their first ever release no less, and called upon twisted pen and pixel geniuses Kozyndan for the art. The remixes from homies Eliot Lipp, Nosaj Thing, Michna and Grahm Zilla (Thunderheist) are pretty special too.

What are your top three rules of friendship?
Discounting people you’ve know FOREVER (i.e. old school chums, fellow teenage ruffians, and summer camp BFFs) the rules of engagement are:
1. Trustworthy integrity, no stealing, shaking down, bogarting, or hogging.
2. No gooey, starry eyes and/or name dropping. I don't care who you did “mischief” with last night, or what he/she/it ordered for lunch at Urth Caffe afterwards.
3. Be awesome.
What inspires you about your friends involved in this project?
Jogger have a very unique take on song structure and what modern electronic can be (which from now on will include somewhat soft rock death metal, just hear “Nephicide” from the EP) and Kozyndan are the indoor kingpins (linchpins) of surreal computer aided fine art.
What makes you and your friends happy?
Cats and Dogs. Lunches and Dinner. Laughter. Found Victorian Attire (that's a solo mission there).
What (ever so) slightly annoys you about your friends?
What ever are you insinuating? Well I never!
Jogger
What are your top three rules of friendship?
In theory with honesty and proper communication there need not be any other rules but I think everyone of us attempts to be thoughtful about the others.
What specifically inspires you about your friends involved in this project?
Daed's music has been inspirational for us as artists but as a friend he has this seemingly bottomless well of encouragement and support. Kozyndan have also provided us with that same sort of dual experience of inspire-icons who also happen to be lovely people and friends. So often one comes across people who are doing work that you’re super down with and upon meeting the person or people making said work, something happens where it all gets fucked up because the people are dongs. I like it when that doesn’t happen.
What makes you and your friends happy?
Really, really funny girls who love to have sex all the time. And dogs and also weed makes me pretty happy sometimes. Ooh and Ghetto and/or yummy veggie/vegan food.
What (ever so) slightly annoys you about your friends?
We are all neurotic and stubborn as all get out. Beyond that I got no complaints.
Kozyndan
What are your top three rules of friendship?
1. Don’t do business with friends (wait, I think we are messing that one up).
2. Don’t holiday with friends (oh man have we ever messed that one up).
3. Don’t sleep with your friends (oops, yep... fouled that one up too).
What specifically inspires you about your friends involved in this project?
MUSIC. To turn random sounds into beautiful moving engaging journeys that surprise us and make us move and make our minds wander is such an amazing gift. And these guys all have it in spades.
What makes you and your friends happy?
Good food, good music, good drugs, good travels, good laughs at each other’s expense and the joy of having found one’s tribe in life.
What (ever so) slightly annoys you about your friends?
There could be a list made of the few qualities we think are negative in each of our friends, and to be sure we talk about those qualities with our other friends behind their back, but they are having the same conversations about us as well.
Leeor Brown
What are your top three rules of friendship?
1. Be generous.
2. Accept people as they are.
3. Look out for the people around you and their best interests... but those are hard as shit to live by!
What specifically inspires you about your friends involved in this project?
Daedelus, the man is a GENIUS. I couldn’t even begin to understand what goes through his head when he’s on stage or in the studio. If it weren’t for him this release wouldn’t exist; he kicked me in the ass many o’ times and brought on the awesomely talented Jogger and Kozyndan to complete the release.
What makes you and your friends happy?
Food. I tend to have surrounded myself with a relentless crew of people who need to find great eats. From the taco trucks to the 4-stars. We’re always on the hunt.
What (ever so) slightly annoys you about your friends?
That they all want the shirt for free! But seriously, I have some amazing friends and extremely artistic/talented people around me. My hope is the label can help showcase some of them AND their friends too.
