MusicNewsMusic / NewsMan DJs for 24 hours straight, raises thousands for charityThis weekend, UK garage don DJ EZ completed the ultimate test of enduranceShareLink copied ✔️February 29, 2016February 29, 2016TextSelim Bulut DJ EZ (pronoucned Ee-Zed, real name Otis Roberts) has been flying the flag for UK garage for the past two decades, giving the genre early exposure during the 1990s, holding down a residency on Kiss FM for 14 years and supporting new producers through his frequent DJ sets around the UK and, more recently, around the world. He’s known for his extremely technical DJ sets, where he can usually tear through a tune a minute. This time, DJ EZ went in for 24 hours, starting at 6pm on Saturday (Feb 27) and finishing up at the same time the next day to raise money for cancer research. After bringing in over £3,000 in the first hour, EZ closed the set with more than £50,000 raised from over 6,000 donations (more money came in over the following hours, with his Just Giving Page set on £58,290.42 with 6,275 donations at the time of writing). Soon after finishing, he posted a succinct thank you on Facebook: “Thank you guys that was amazing!!!” Presumably, he was too wiped to muster up anything longer. There are a few clips from the set online, one from the final few minutes and more from random intervals in the gig. A full stream might turn up at some point – it’s gonna be a hell of a set to ID. His Just Giving page is still open, if you want to donate to the cause. Here’s one of him 22 hours in, looking and sounding way better than I know I would. 22 hours down and 40k raised for @CR_UK! #DJEZ24HourSetGet your donations in now! https://t.co/NeHX9X6xEVpic.twitter.com/SYKXCMjh5u— DJ EZ (@DJEZOfficial) February 28, 2016Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MORE‘UK Ug’: How Gen Z Brits reinvented rap in 2025 How a century-old Danish brand became pop culture’s favourite sound systemDHLInside singer Sigrid’s intimate walks through nature with her fans ‘The unknown is exciting’: Why Gorillaz’ upcoming album is all about deathThe 20 best tracks of 2025, rankedThe 20 best albums of 2025, rankedThe renaissance of Zara Larsson: ‘I’m out of the Khia Asylum’The 10 best music videos of 2025, rankedListen to our shadowy Dazed Winter 2025 playlist7 of Chase Infiniti’s favourite K-pop tracksMeet The Deep, K-pop’s antihero ‘This is our Nirvana!’: Are Geese Gen Z’s first great rock band?
