In celebration of the release of their new EP 'Monogozo' Dazed Digital has tracks 'Shim' and 'Merrygo' available for download.

Fresh from their blazing Kitsuné single “Claymore”, Joseph Ashworth and William Green are busy in their Whitechapel studio, tweaking up their sets headlining Club NME (April 3rd) and supporting Simian Mobile Disco at Matter (April 10th). To celebrate the release of their new EP “Monogozo” (electro mayhem and scuzzy ripped grooves) Dazed Digital has “Shim” and “Merrygo” from the EP available for download. If you caught the buzz from their mixes for La Roux, Mystery Jets, Esser as well as the bootleg remixes of Crystal Castles and Lo Fi Fink, you know what’s what. Stream tracks Shim and Merrygo below or download them here and here.

WHATS…
...so special about you, then?
I think our music has a characteristic sound whilst being varied. No two songs are the same.

...your worst vice?
Alcohol, without a doubt. DJs have too much time to kill - trains, airport check-ins, two hours after dinner and before going to the club.

...the best piece of advice you've heard?
Autokratz told us to set up a live set where we just play our own music a few years back. I guess that was good advice. I think more people relate to our live sets, our DJ sets can get a bit nerdy and techno-y for some of the people who come to see us because of what we have on our MySpace.

...better, analog or digital?
Digital. The way we go about producing lends itself entirely to digital. We mess around with ideas, start hundreds of things and only finish a couple, chop audio, bounce down, change our minds and go back. It's a really spontaneous, fluid process for us. I think analogue requires too much planning. By the time we would have wired everything in, an idea would have fizzled out. Although eventually, we aim for our live set to incorporate a lot more hardware.

...your favourite piece of clothing?
Will's weird, semi-transparent, silver jumpsuit.

...the world coming to?
I think our lifestyles give both of us quite skewed views of the world. I'm not really sure what it's coming to.

...the name of your hero?
Richie Hawtin.

...so special about your hero?
Just look at him go!

...your worst fashion secret?
We both own and spend most of our down time in a pair of what we like to call “Whitechapel Loungers”. Brandless, stained tracksuit pants, very popular in our local area.

...next year going to bring?
Well, so far our time has been spent doing remixes, it's been great, but the rest of the year is all about gigging, and working on more of our own music. Next single with Micachu is starting to take shape.

...your favourite website?
I spend a lot of time on the Erol Alkan Forum. Aside from that, Myspace and Beatport.

...at the top of your shit list?
Travelling when it is a pain in the arse, and people who constantly complain about travelling are both up there.

How would you describe your work?
Well we never expected to release a record, play in a proper nightclub etc. And so it has been a series of hilarious moments where we say to ourselves, “what on earth are we doing?”
