It’s getting tense out there. People are refusing to acknowledge that entire months exist until Frank Ocean’s record comes out, losing their shit over leaks of what could be his new merchandise and getting Rickrolled by his brother. Frank fever hit another high over the weekend when a troll pretended to be Frank Ocean in the artist’s subreddit.

A user called “ChrisLonney” (Frank Ocean’s real name) posted this previously undiscovered link to register for an account on the artist’s site yesterday. It was swiftly deleted but enough to send fans into a frenzy, with some convinced it was Frank and they were being sent secret messages.

ChrisLonney continued to post late yesterday and through the night suggesting the album was about to drop any second. One was simply titled: “Today is a beautiful day." Redditors were spooked. "If this really turns out to really be frank then I’ll climb into my dryer fr”, said one. Another said: “This user is freaking me out. Because I honestly can’t figure out whether it’s just another random, or if it’s affiliated with frank”.

But by later on, most fans had turned on the troll. After a less subtle post titled “I’M FRANK OCEAN OOGA BOOGA” with the word “Tonight!”, people were pissed. Comments ranged from the furious “Seriously, Mods get a handle on this guy and ban him from the subreddit” to the emotional: “These trolls are playing with my heart”. Turns out he wasn’t legit - it’s the morning and still no album.

It definitely exists – Ocean’s ex-girlfriend tweeted about it this weekend suggesting it’s ready.

Everyone expected it to drop in July after one promising photo was published earlier this year alongside with the words: "I got two versions. I got twoooo versions" and the hashtags #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY.” But it’s now August 10.

Fans and trolls are gonna have to keep waiting.
