Tide yourself over with this unexpected instrumental releaseShareLink copied ✔️May 12, 2015MusicNewsTextZing Tsjeng In between working on the follow-up to Cupid Deluxe, Blood Orange singer Dev Hynes has been flexing his composer muscles by soundtracking films, with his last work being Gia Coppola's teen angst masterpiece Palo Alto. Unfortunately, his most recent score hasn't worked out – but the unnamed film's loss is our gain, because he's uploaded 45 minutes of new music intended for the movie. Hynes described the score as music "to zone out to", writing in its YouTube description: "I spent the last few months working on a film score, then I got fired. No hard feelings. Here’s some of the music." This isn't the first time Hynes has unexpectedly released fresh work. Last year, he handed out cassette tapes of new material in person to fans in New York. Dazed tagged along as Hynes skateboarded the tapes to people; read our account here. Meanwhile, you can listen to the film score below. We're detecting hints of Arthur Russell and Phillip Glass. You? Music from the film score i was let go from a couple weeks ago. Figured i'd put it out. Now back to work on Blood Orange LP3. Peace. <3— Devonté Hynes (@devhynes) May 11, 2015Escape the algorithm!
