It’s been tough to stop listening to To Pimp A Butterfly for long enough to digest just about anything else this month – that album in itself has enough musical and literary intricacy to keep you writing things like “musical and literary intricacy” until December – but hey, we tried. Some things that blasted through and caught our attention: Domino’s newly signed Peckham superstar Georgia; Rihanna’s brand new foreign car-ar-ar; Hudson Mohawke’s turn towards anthemic pop and footworker Jlin’s phenomenal debut album for Planet Mu. Meanwhile, it’s also been a rich month for hip-hop and R&B mixtapes, with new ones from Future, T-Pain, iLoveMakonnen and Tinashe. BTW, did anyone else hear that Zayn Malik, Naughty Boy’s best mate, is apparently set to sign to OVOXO now? Uh...catch us waiting here with our fingers crossed.
