This time, Jaar has dipped into something altogether lighter on label Other People, and signed a totally new and excitingly leftfield artist –19-year-old composer John Bence. Wickedly unique and ultra-abstract, John Bence's EP Disquiet “foreshadows nicely what we have in store for 2015 – nudity and patience," according to Jaar. Disquiet seems the perfect title and in fact analogy for an EP that's multifarious in its creation and sound. Bence's work involves the use of a rhythmic and painstakingly original cut-and-paste method. After scoring and recording the full piece, he re-records, manipulates and re-scores again... and again. This cyclical technique creates a choral hybrid of electronic production and classical composition – a delightful palate-cleanser in a world of heavy-tech and pulsing base.
