MusicSustain ReleaseTunes Joey Anderson used to dance to back in the dayNew Jersey-based producer and DJ hits us up with some top nineties dance tunesShareLink copied ✔️September 2, 2014MusicSustain ReleaseTextDazed Digital This September a new, experimental music festival, Sustain Release, comes to New York. Showcasing the cream of the crop in dance music alongside emerging artists about to break, we've got a seven-part special today going in deep with the creators – get up to speed here. New Jersey based House music producer Joey Anderson released his debut album "After Forever" on Dutch label Dekmantel this past May to much acclaim. Having been championed by connoisseur allies Levon Vincent and DJ Qu before the rest of the world cottoned on, Anderson’s style has proved to be truly idiosyncratic - near bottomless techno grooves get run through with haunted piano lines, shadowy synth work or elegant drones. There are barely ever any claps or snares, instead just plenty of deeply hypnotic kicks and plenty of noir tension. Anderson also runs his own Inimeg Records and has released deep and intriguing techno EPs for labels like Latency, Deconstruct Music and Syncrophone over the last couple of years. Long before he was a producer he was a House music dancer, even touring Japan with fellow dancer DJ Qu. Here, ahead of his headlining DJ appearance at Sustain-Release Festival on September 12th, Anderson looks back at his time as a dancer by selecting tunes he used to love to dance to. Also catch a video of him rehearsing his moves way back when he was on the other side of the decks. Fingers Inc "Never No More Lonely " (Trax) 1988The music tempo for me is broken down to the theme of the song . It gave me a mental vision of my experiences in that situation . Logic "The Warning" (Strictly Rhythm) 1990You can dive to the floor like a athlete and be on beat , and come up with funk Jungle Wonz "Time Marches on" (Trax) 1987Solidified our identity as house heads and being proud that we listened and cherished a different kind of music . I made sure everytime I heard this , match it with skill on the dance floor. The track is too perfect.. Ce Ce Rogers "Someday" (Atlantic) 1987I can spin and do dives and footwork to the language... totally free ... Aphrodisiac "Song of the Siren" (Nu Groove) 1990Beats are uncharted territory in the structure...baseline I always listen to last, vocals heal my spirit... again I can do as I please with my arms and legs..
