Today, Dr. Dre took to Twitter to share a photo of the cast with their real-life counterparts and the official release date of the film: 14 August, 2015. Straight Outta Compton took years to reach this stage, partly because Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E's widow Tomica Wright all hold the final approval on script and casting. But it seems like the hard-to-please trio have finally settled on the actors who will play the rap pioneers. Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., will play his father, and classically-trained actor Marcus Callender will portray Dre. Eazy-E will be played by a New Orleans-based unknown called Jason Mitchell. F. Gary Gray, who directed the 2003 remake of The Italian Job and has directed music videos for Outkast and TLC, is on directing duties. According to the Hollywood Reporter, principal photography is set to begin in less than two months. Watch the music video for "Straight Outta Compton" below: Escape the algorithm!
