"Tricky walked into the studio with the largest spliff I’ve ever seen, which we then used to explode the particles in this shot. Returning to the studio from a walk, he looked puzzled and asked, 'Is it just me or does it smell of weed in here?'" Timothy Saccenti

New York photographer and director Timothy Saccenti is releasing Portraits 01, a limited-edition photo book of portraits of artists like Oneohtrix Point Never, Mykki Blanco, Tricky and Ariel Pink, through Warp Records later this month. "These artists are among the most innovative, compelling and groundbreaking of this generation," he says. "It's a rich time in the musical landscape, and each of these artists have fought against mind-numbing, pedestrian and soulless sounds by going into a more immersive direction both personal and mind-expanding." It follows his previous book, Paradise, and videos for Animal Collective, Battles and Erykah Badu.

Portraits 01 is available to buy from January 28 by Warp
