Soul Clap are Boston house and funk heads Elyte and Cynce. In between releasing their debut longplayer EFUNK last year, teaching courses on electronic music and touring the world, the duo also run their own label – now that’s what we call deep. Recently the pair have been in the studio for sessions with George Clinton/Parliament and a solo Soul Clap release is rumoured to be brewing. To celebrate the launch of our 93 Til Infinity issue, we got the boys to serve us up a nice big helping of the biggest 90s house jams. From Chicago to Detroit, New York to London and everywhere in between, these classic tracks will make you trust in Soul Clap – ‘Free your mind and your ass will follow’.

1993 Pop Quiz
Patricia Arquette or Demi Moore?
Arquette all the way! True Romance is one of the best movies from growing up. Also released in '93! She's so painfully smoking hot and in deep trouble in that movie. But with a pimp played by Gary Oldman, who can blame her?
Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins?
Gotta go Nirvana here. Smashing Pumpkins was pretty incredible, but the cult of Kurt Cobain was a million times more potent.
Wu Tang or A Tribe Called Quest?
This is too close to call, gonna say A Tribe Called Tang, if there could be a combo. Tribe was positivity and jazz, Wu Tang is wizardry and ancient proverbs, go figure.
Bill Clinton or Chelsea Clinton?
Bill, he likes blow jobs and blowing the sax. Who can't like this guy?
Edward Furlong or Christian Slater?
Together they would be the ultimate 90's wingmen. It would be all fun and games in the Hollywood Hills until someone OD's. Of course, the emergency room trip would be a little bit dramatic, but they'd probably bro down where all the patients are released onto the streets and be like, "Yeah man what a weekend! Ok so where we going tonight?"
Poetic Justice or Menace II Society?
Menace II Society with your homies, Poetic Justice for a 3rd date (you can't go all that way on the first).
Jurassic Park or Groundhog Day?
When i was younger it was Jurassic Park, but Groundhog Day is clearly a better movie.
Trainspotting or The Virgin Suicides?
Trainspotting, duh. Although watching either Kathleen Turner or Kirstin Dunst shit the bed would be pretty funny.
Beavis or Butthead?
Its gotta be Beavis, he's more maniacal and calculated. Butthead just really is that stupid.
Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell?
A little biased here since Charlie's girlfriend once got into a fight with Naomi Campbell. That being said she did a great job in the music video for George Michaels "Faith".
Mortal Kombat or Super Mario Bros?
Biased again, our homie Hernan from Chicago is the voices like "FINISH HIM". Apparently he learned that catch phrase at a happy ending massage parlour.
Young and beautiful or old and wise?
Fat and stupid.
Brooklyn or Manhattan?
Lollapalooza or LOLZ?
RuPaul or Ron Jeremy?
Retro or future?
Gotta be both.
Drunk or sober?
Well not sober, but drunk? Really?
War or peace?
PEACE INNA NATION.
Night or day?
Al B. Sure.
Party or bullshit?
