After releasing a solo single, the likes of Midland and Dark Sky were recruited for his following releases including his collaborative venture with the latter on their dancefloor-centric new EP 'The Click'/'The Fallout'. With layered Bashmore-esque basslines and various cut up vocal samples, the lead track created after some 'vibsing' in the studio sees its new music video premiered here first ahead of its February release. Dazed Digital: What attracted you about each other's sound to want to produce together? Breach: Well I'd heard there tune neon and had been playing it in my Breach sets and I thought it would be interesting to do a collaboration as they'd been big fans of my fatherless record and my earlier Ben Westbeech albums. We actually planned to make some music for my next Ben Westbeech album, and then started a Breach/Dark Sky thing. The Click came out of that process. DD: Was the result what you expected? Breach: To be honest, I didn't have any preconception of what it would sound like. It just came out of no where we were just having fun and vibsing in my studio. We used a lot of my hardware and lot's of different programs as we use different methods to produce. As there are three of them it was quite full on at points in the sessions, as everyone had a sound they wanted to get across. I geared the record towards my labels sound, as it's quite different from what Dark sky produce in their own productions. DD: What has been the most important thing you've learnt over the process?Breach: To listen and try other production methods and programs. It was interesting to see how they work as a team and I like their approach to drum programming. I make music on my own so it was a challenge to listen and work in this way. DD: What's next?Breach: My next Breach release on Dirtybird is out in March, I have a 12" from Dusky coming on Naked Naked in April and I am currently writing my next Ben Westbeech album and working on New Breach material. It is a challenge doing both projects and running my label but I am really enjoying it and am thankful that people are into it. I just wanna make and put out dope records.
