This Freitag, South London-based club night Tief known for their storming line-ups showcasing the best in underground electronic music will be celebrating their first birthday at their long-time home of Corsica Studios. The b-day blowout sees Detroit ledge Omar S being joined by London-based house duo Bicep, Mano Le Tough, Brawther, Jeremy Underground, Daniel Wang, Hunee, and the Wolf Music crew and newcomers Casino Times. Here the Oxford duo who've remixed the likes of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Greymatter, and jozif make us an exclusive mix to get us in the Tief mood.

...the story behind your name?
We like to believe Joe’s old flat mate had a serious gambling problem. Gambling Times doesn’t really slide off the tongue.
 
...your worst vice?
Nick’s a red wine lover (and coffee, and beer). We call him moderation man, nothing’s done by half.
 
... your favourite sound?
‘The Bass Corner’. Every shit studio has one, especially ours.

...your worst fashion secret?
Nick: I’ve been wearing the same clothes for the past five years.
Joe: I own a pair of Croc-Uggs (Crugs?) and a cat shirt for special occasions.
 
...are you listening to now?
Joe: I’ve just discovered my dads old record collection which consists of some real 80’s gems like 'The The' and a shed load of Kate Bush. It makes for an interesting listen.
Nick: Lots of awful Italo Disco and the not awful at all J Dilla.

How would you describe your work?
I’m not sure we know, we just know what we want to hear. We try to incorporate a strong sense of song writing and arrangement and as much attention to detail as we can.
 
We’ve been spending a lot of time making music this year that’s seen a lot of demos being scrapped because we haven’t really found a sense of progression in our productions. We don’t want to rehash the same ideas to achieve quick success.

What's next?
We’re currently finishing up our EP for Needwant which we’re really excited about and working on some material for Wolf Music, both set for release later on this year. Also it’s the Tief 1st Birthday on the 28th September, we’ve had an awesome year playing parties for them and can’t wait to lay down some disco groover’s in the Cuban bar (Corsica's 3rd room) with Daniel Wang, Hunee and Matt & Stu.
