Music / RiseGolden Touch Exclusive MixCheck out the L.A producer's new mix featuring the likes of Tensnake, Toby Tobias and MoscaShareLink copied ✔️December 15, 2011MusicRiseText Dazed Digital You may remember L.A.-born and Munich-raised producer / DJ / songwriter Golden Touch from such late-00's electro hits as "Black & Gold" by Sam Sparro, and his work co-writting with heavyweight pop producers including Paul Epworth, and Richard X. Over the last 12 months he's since remixed the likes of Sky Ferreira, Kimbra, and Penguin Prison, whilst his mainstream pop-influenced electro productions and knack for DJing has earned him sets alongside legends Derrick Carter and Cassius. Now he returns with his debut album set to launch in 2012, we speak to him about his love of breakfast sarnies and Lady Gaga's meat dress alongside an exclusive mix for us... WHAT'S… ...your secret talent?Breakfast sandwiches, I like to make 'em and I like to eat 'em... anyway I can get em basically.. it's an addiction and I have to learn to live with it. If I can't be bothered to make one myself I usually like to go to Oaks Market on Franklin (right at the bottom of Beachwood Canyon). You get a nice view of the Hollywood sign there too... good way to remind you that you're in paradise....your worst vice?Breakfast sandwiches.…the story behind your name?My Grandfather used to call me Golden Boy... sarcastically unfortunately.... your favourite sound? The crisp but deep wobble of a large sheet of metal... also the sounds of my Roland Juno synths never seem to tire....your worst fashion secret? My friend Franc Fernandez designed and made Lady Gaga's 'meat dress' in Sam Sparro's apartment in downtown LA. This was a while ago.. wait, where's my jerky at?!...your favourite website?lememe.com - curated by an LA native. I could spend an eternity just scrolling further down and never stop laughing/ being mind-blown. You might catch me in a picture on there somewhere too....the best thing about where you're from?LA has a bizarre reputation, depending on who you ask. It's everything every other city is not. From the parties to the art scene to the general quality of life.. you can't beat it. There are of course cliché criticisms like traffic and snobby Hollyweird, but the good news is that there are so many alternatives that a lot of people don't know about. Something special is definitely happening right now, I feel like in 15- 20 years time we'll look back at these years and really grasp the full scope of what's been going on here. Party-wise "A Club Called Rhonda" has been pulling out all the stops for years and has the best bookings hands down, but there are loads of more underground parties in downtown warehouses that allow for open ended wilding-out as well. This is a perfect antidote to the 2am curfew. DJ Harvey and his Sarcastic Sound System, among others, have been throwing some of the most legendary parties this city has seen in the last decades....at the top of your shit list?Midnight evacuations from industrial warehouse parties while everyone is high. This happened last weekend at a party I was at where Benoit & Sergio and Mark E were playing. Fire + gas leak apparently - not a good look!...are you listening to now?Erodiscotique, a new project from Dimitri from Paris and DJ Rocca out on Gomma Recs is rad. Say what you will about Lana Del Rey but I'm into her, and definitely check out the Joy Orbison remix of "Video Games". My buds in Jessica 6 have been killing it around the world but I feel like their "White Horse" track was massively underrated. We've done our part by remixing their upcoming single "In The Heat" which should be out in the new year. How would you describe your work?Boundary-less and Bountiful... to my mom at least. It's tough to talk about your own work but I think my style is a logical extension of my experiences, just another product of my personality. I really favour a lot of the pop music from the last 30-40 years, anything that twists the blueprint, as well as disco, funk, soul, post-disco, house, and deeper shades of techno. I've been feeling really inspired recently and have been cooking up a bunch of new tracks so we'll see what you all think out there. TRACKLIST 1. Call Me (Tensnake Remix) - Mark E 2.
