A follow up to last year’s self-titled debut album, Finnish experimental electro-rock band K-X-P, release a three-track EP called ‘Easy’ to mark their signing to Manchester’s Melodic Records. As distant reincarnations of the bands Op:l Bastards and The Lefthanded, the group consists of Timo Kaukolampo (electronics and vocals), Tuomo Puranen (bass and keyboards) and rotating drummers Anssi Nykänen and Tomi Leppanen.

Keen to keep things as obscure as possible the band don’t intend to clarify their sound any more than they have, drawing elements from glam rock, black metal, and punk just to name a few. But it’s been said that the sound of the 'Easy EP’, including the tracks ‘Easy’, ‘Cymbalim’ and Suhu Moments’, gives hints towards the group’s next album supposedly heading towards us sooner than we think. Here the band speak to us about banana chips and 80s Goth dresses.

WHAT'S…

... your secret talent?
I make the best pizza in the world outside Italy and also best raw chocolate smoothie.

... your worst vice?

My girlfriend says: ladies. I think liquorice and banana chips. Can't stop eating them.

… the story behind your name?
Kaukolampi, Nykänen, Puranen are our last names. K-N-P was the original name. Nykänen is super busy and never made it to the gigs so drummer became X.

... your favourite sound?
Detuned Moog Voyager oscillator drone in key of low C.

... your worst fashion secret?

I have one 80s black goth dress in my closet that I want to fit in one day.

... your favourite website?

http://animalsbeingdicks.com/

... good for breakfast?

Green smoothie with organic spinach, cucumber, avocado and good salt and water.

... the best thing about where you're from?

Clean air and water.

... at the top of your shit list?

Negativity and laziness. Also crimes against nature. Nature is holy.

... are you listening to now?

Chart pop and Wendy Carlos.

How would you describe your work?

I get ideas from the thin dust of cosmos and make them real. I have best job in the world, I created it, I'm my own CEO, employer and employee. Totally schizo. I think I'll go to strike now.

The new EP is released November 14th 2011 on Melodic
