Such was the case with his neon lace printed on leather, oversized sequins covering chiffons and of course, the plastic with liquid which he recently presented in London. So no wonder that the new collection he designed for Versus together with Donatella Versace, is also consistent when it comes to inspiration, and this time it was a corset’s boning. Choosing to showcase his designs only in black and grey, Kane stripped the midriffs to reveal the corseting inside, but the remaining parts of the garment stayed on the demure side. A brilliant architectural play also featured in the collection’s coats – long, buttonless and panelled – which brought an unexpected injection of masculinity to the sparkly knits and sheer panels.
